In a recent Intel survey, conducted by MSI Research with 2,500 interviewees aged 18 to 65, it was found that most professionals use their personal technology devices for professional activities and also that most use computers and mobile devices provided by the company for personal activities.
Check out the main results in Brazil, where 200 people were interviewed:
- 86% of respondents said they spent more than three hours a day on the Internet for reasons related to their function in the company, when they are at work;
- 39% say they also spend more than three hours a day on the internet working even when they are at home
- Most people use corporate devices for personal activities such as checking emails (84%), performing banking activities (52%) or making online purchases (34%)
- 65% say they use the personal smartphone to work, while 38% use personal laptop for their professional activities
- 70% of people claim to be concerned or very concerned about information security when working outside the office
- 49% claim to connect to Wi-Fi networks with the company's laptop, even without knowing if it is safe
- 66% believe that the company is responsible for protecting personal data in work equipment
- 78% of respondents claim to be confident or very confident that the company takes the necessary measures to protect all data that is important
- 72% of people consider that most of the work they do is confidential or private
- 50% of respondents believe the company tracks all their data and information and use information.
The vast majority of people understand the importance of maintaining a good online image and making good use of internet resources, but few companies have use policies for employees. Due to lack of information for employees, the incorrect use of technology generates the vast majority of security and information leakage problems in companies.
To prepare your internet use policy, the company manager must be realistic and know that a good policy is specifically because it protects what is sensitive to your business and allows your employees to use the internet to better perform their functions. See important points:
